    New name - New LJ
Now that I have adopted my married name, I have decided to start a new LJ to match. So if you would like to read new my entries from now on, they will be posted in [info]gleasonfeller. I may have changed my last name, but my maiden name is still an important part of my identity and I haven't dropped it completely. I started posting duplicate entries in the new LJ yesterday so hopefully this will be a seamless transition. See you on the other side!

    Goodbye football 2007
The football season is now officially over for the Gators and it ended on a low note. They lost to Michigan after coming back from being two touchdowns behind and a crazy back-and-forth fourth quarter. It was a sad ending, but the Gator faithful are already looking forward to next season. With our Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, we're hoping for another national championship. We've already got our fingers crossed! GO GATORS!

Halftime at the Capital One Bowl
It's halftime at the Capital One Bowl, but the Gators aren't looking that great. I can only hope they improve in the second half. GO GATORS!

    Goodbye 2007
I know I haven't kept my webpage up to date this month, but before 2007 is over I just wanted to say it's been an amazing year! I'll always remember this as the year Dan and I got married and it was beyond amazing. We are both looking forward to the coming year and it looks like 2008 is going to be a busy one. Happy New Year!

    Cold pizza
I used to think eating cold pizza was weird, but now I love it. I had two leftover pieces of Papa John's pizza for lunch and they were delicious!

    Scones for breakfast
Today is our annual holiday potluck at work, which means we have a conference room full of yummy food all day. Those three homemade scones I had for breakfast (cinnamon, blueberry, and cranberry orange) were delicious, but they're sitting rather heavily in my stomach two hours later. It's a good thing I'm planning to go to the gym this afternoon!

    First and second
First of all, I am feeling a little better today, but I still decided to stay home from work and rest. Spending the whole weekend sick in bed with Dan away on a business trip was horrible.

Second, on Friday I was very excited to discover that the Columbus Laboratory, the Space Shuttle payload that I spent a lot of time working on during my first Boeing internship seven years ago, was scheduled to launch over the weekend on STS-122. Unfortunately NASA decided to postpone the launch until January due to a fuel gague failure. But this isn't such a big setback considering that the launch was originally scheduled for 2004! Waiting another few weeks doesn't seem like that big of a deal.

    Good and bad
The good news: Tim Tebow won the Heisman trophy! He's the first sophomore and third Gator to win the award. Very cool.

The bad news: Somehow I manage to keep getting sicker. The only reason I went to work yesterday was an afternoon meeting I had to attend, and even then I almost went home early. And last night I couldn't sleep because I had so much sinus pressure that I couldn't lie down. I finally fell asleep at 4 AM after taking some Aleve, but when I woke up I discovered that I had lost my voice overnight. Great. I took Dan to the airport around 6 AM this morning and then I spent the rest of the day in bed, but I haven't been able to sleep. My head is congested and my throat is swollen so breathing isn't exactly easy. And medicine hasn't helped very much. While sitting in bed I've watched quite a few movies and worked on a cross stitch Christmas ornament, but this isn't how I wanted to spend my weekend. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow because I really need to finish my Christmas shopping!

    Two things
    1) For a really simple and tasty meal, add chicken breasts, sliced onion, and BBQ sauce to Crockpot and cook on high for 3 hours. Shred chicken and serve on toasted rolls. Yummy sandwiches with very little effort.
    2) I can't believe I'm sick again. I guess my immune system hasn't quite recovered from the flu yet and I caught Dan's head cold (or whatever he's got). This is a vicious cycle - I got sick, then Dan got sick, and then I got sick again. It's hard to remember what "well" feels like.

Back to my regularly scheduled workout
I'm headed back to the gym today after an absence of two weeks. I've already gained back 3 of the 8 pounds I lost while sick and I'm not eager to continue this trend. The good thing is that my favorite work pants were still really loose when I put them on this morning, but that will be hard to maintain as Christmas approaches. I think I'm fully recovered from the flu now, but I'll still take it easy at aerobics today. I don't want to pass out! Dan is taking it easy today too - he just sent me an email saying that he's taking a sick day. I'm glad because he really needs to rest. I love you sweetie! Feel better!

    Mini tour of LA
Today Dan and I took a mini tour of Los Angeles while running errands. We first dropped off his car at the dealer for service and then drove (in my car) to Beverly Hills to pick up Dan's watch from the Omega store. Afterwards we walked around Rodeo Drive marveling at the expensive items in the shop windows and the even more expensive cars on the streets. Our next stop was El Monte in the San Bernadino foothills to buy some ballroom dance shoes. There's a store/warehouse there that the Arthur Murray instructors recommended so we made the long drive out there to buy shoes for both Dan and me. But due to the fact that my feet are notoriously hard to fit, Dan was the only one who walked out of there with shoes in hand. Most of the styles come in a narrow width, but the "warehouse" doesn't keep many of them in stock so I had to order a pair. So sometime in the next 3-5 weeks I'll have ballroom dance shoes that fit (I hope)! Our initial goal for tomorrow was to get a Christmas tree and decorate the house for the holidays, but unfortunately Dan is sick (it always happens just as I get well) and he may need to spend the day resting instead. Either way we'll try and enjoy what's left of the weekend. I can't believe it's already December!

    Back at work
Today I put in a full day at work (after taking two days of sick leave) and then came home and made a delicious dinner for Dan and me (baked ziti is extremely simple, but also very tasty). That's pretty good considering that yesterday afternoon was the first time I got out of bed willingly in more than a week. I won't be going back to the gym this week, but at least a day at work didn't completely exhaust me (like the last time I had the flu). I had three hours of meetings this morning and then I sorted through all of the email that piled up in my inbox while I was gone. After that I moved on to planning my group's annual holiday luncheon. Not sure where or when it's going to be yet, but I got the ball rolling. And I guess I did some real work at some point too. It's been a productive day!

    Crazy bruise
I have a two-inch greenish yellow bruise on my wrist from the IV last Thursday. My skin reacts badly to needles. Being sick sucks (but I think I'm finally getting better).

    Belated parade
I'm finally watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I TiVoed it in case we didn't get to see the parade for some reason while we were in Texas, and it's a good thing I did. I made my second trip to the urgent care center last Thursday morning and the IV kept me from watching the parade live. Next up on TiVo as I catch up on my television - Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving.

Dan and I got home from Texas on Saturday night, but I still haven't recovered from my mysterious illness. I stayed home from work today to make another trip to an urgent care center, and I got some antibiotics this time to see if that might help. The doctor told me to keep to a liquid diet for at least one more day. I've lost 8 pounds in the past week because I haven't been able to keep anything down. Watching everyone eat Thanksgiving dinner on Friday was torture. I tried to eat a roll, but that didn't work too well and I spent the rest of the afternoon in bed. Yuck. So for now I'll grab another Gatorade from the fridge and finish watching the parade. Happy (Belated) Thanksgiving!

    Turkey Day
Happy Turkey Day! Dan's family is having Thanksgiving dinner one day late to accommodate everyone's travel plans, so I'm sitting at the kitchen table while the food is being prepared all around me. I had the unfortunate luck of getting the stomach flu on Monday night just before we left for Texas so I can't eat anything. I've been to the local urgent care center twice since we arrived - once for some oral medication and the second time for an IV when I couldn't keep the pills down. I feel much better now and I've been able to drink some Gatorade, but I'm not going to risk another trip to the hospital by eating turkey. No matter how good it looks! My goal is to keep down one roll at dinner tonight and that will be an accomplishment. Maybe I can go back to eating solids next week. This is certainly not the most pleasant weight loss plan!
